The electron microscopy and spectroscopy team is made up of around twenty permanent and non-permanent staff. Its expertise lies both in the constant development of innovative instrumentation and data analysis tools, and in the establishment or use of new theories and simulation methods. Its domains of interest span a variety of fields in materials science, optics and biophysics, including plasmonics, correlated oxides, 2D materials physics, metallurgy and biomineralisation. The team’s expertise had led to its taking a prominent role in national (METSA) and international (ESTEEM) networks of excellence in microscopy.
