Research

The PULS team is interested in quantum materials, their electronic properties and their ultrafast dynamics.

About us

We study the electronic properties of quantum materials employing various experimental methods based on the use of ultrafast light sources.

Using advanced experimental techniques like time-resolved photoemission, ultrafast light pulses offer the opportunity to explore the dynamics of electrons on the femtosecond (10^‑15 s) time scale. This makes it possible to directly observe fundamental processes like carrier dynamics, inter- and intra-band scattering, photoinduced band structure modifications, lifetime and dynamics of excited states, as well as new non-thermal, transient phases of quantum matter.
