The team Matter and radiation (MATRIX), led by Erwan Paineau, spans a wide research domain and its members belong to the three main topics of the Laboratory:
- New electronic states of matter
- Physical phenomena with reduced dimensions
- Soft matter and physics-biology interface
The subjects currently studied by the team are nanotubes and confinement, multiple orders in correlated fermions materials, self-assembly of nano-structured materials, liquid crystals and polymers, inorganic colloids and hybrid materials.
Our research team shares common concepts, methods and experimental tools. Our main techniques of investigation are X-ray scattering and spectroscopy. Our approach is based on constant instrumental developments. We also use complementary techniques such as neutron scattering and spectroscopy, NMR, optical and electron microscopies.
